Hoyer opens new office in Hjørring
On Friday, June 20, Danish motor supplier Hoyer officially opened a new office in Hjørring. The expansion follows the acquisition of automation company NowiTek and marks a strategic move for Hoyer towards delivering comprehensive energy-saving automation solutions — with potential across land-based industries, maritime sectors, and agriculture.
Hoyer is globally recognised for its electric motors serving marine, industrial, energy, and HVAC markets. With the integration of NowiTek and the launch of the Hjørring office, the company is entering a new chapter: combining software and automation expertise to enable substantial energy savings in heavy-duty applications.
“We see this as a meaningful step forward in how we think about technology and impact,” said Henrik Sørensen, CEO of Hoyer.
“NowiTek’s control technologies allow us to reduce energy consumption and downtime in critical systems — like fans and pumps in the maritime industry, and complex biogas facilities. These are solutions developed in Northern Jutland, but they have global potential.”
From Marine Engineers to Green System Developers
NowiTek was founded in 2018 by marine engineers Norman Nørgaard and Nicolai Larsen. Their SCADA systems and energy-optimising software are already deployed across Danish biogas plants, where they have reduced average downtime from 20% to nearly zero. The technology is also utilised in energy-intensive maritime installations — a sector increasingly focused on CO₂ reduction.
“We started in Brønderslev with a mission to make technical operations smarter and more energy-efficient,” said Norman Nørgaard.
“Becoming part of Hoyer now gives us the chance to take the next step — to scale our solution and bring it to a global audience.”
A Northern Jutland Hub with Global Ambitions
The Hjørring office will be home to Hoyer’s new automation team and a key part of the company’s expanding focus on system integration and digital operations. According to Hoyer, the location in Northern Jutland was deliberately chosen to attract technical talent and build on regional expertise.
The company also sees long-term potential for these solutions in industrial production environments and the agricultural sector, where demand is growing for integrated energy systems and efficient control solutions.
